Is fiberglass really a bad choice to go with for a bodykit?

it depends on several factors. budget being one,a fiberglass kit is going to be much cheaper than a urethane one. it will not be as durable though and you may have more fitment issues as well. it really depends on your driving style,i had a f/g buddy club kit on my coupe and it was slammed i couldnt slip the tip of my shoe betweeen it and the road. i had to have it repaired quite often, but i had a frined who did it for cheap so it wasnt a big deal. if i did it over and had the extra cash i would have bought a urethane one. but it did look good and served its purpose for a few years.
I second the "urethane" body kit suggestion. Spend a little more and you will have less problems. Nothing worse than hitting or scraping into a driveway and cracking your car. All that hard work, money and effort can be destroyed so easily. At least urethane "gives" a little.

Yes J is right, urethane is the way to go. my stock clip on my Avenger was VERY flexible but after swapping the front end for Eclipse parts, along with a fiberglass blitz bumper, I realized how much I regreted getting fiberglass over urethane. I had the front end done for maybe 3 weeks when it met a curb in Kmart. some1 said "cops are coming" and at the time there wasnt supposed to be anyone in the parking lot so we all started leaving. I didnt see one of those islands and just plowed over it. the whole middle piece on the bottom broke off, so now the main opening was now the main arch. if I had a urethane kit, it wouldve just flexed and i wouldve just rolled over the curb.
the ONLY downside i have found to urethane is that if it does somehow break, it is hard and expensive to fix.

it depends how you drive to... if you are like nismogirl or some other guys who drive like girls then get poly!! if you have ebay coilovers get poly!! alot of things come into play, ride hieght, driver, suspension, so forth. i never scrape our bumper, its fiberglass.... i can cruise all over victoria haulin ass end never mess it up. with the suspension you can go 40-50 all the way down laurent without bottoming out or hitting the bumper. nismo girl likes to go straight up to a manhole sticking 5 ft in the air or run over rocks the size of my head....lol she doesnt pay attention. drives with the music full blast singing, on the phone, doing her nails, and switching gears.... poor car. but poly is the best!!

Motor Mods all the way. If you want body kits go urathane all the way. It will pay for itself by the money you save from being in the body shop reparing your fiberglass kit!!!!!!!

well, i would like to disagree...a properly made/fitted/tested bodykit CAN help you go faster...aerodynamics.

on the fiberglass motion i would like to add that if you just strenghten up the fiberglass before you paint it and put it on it helps alot. personally i would put a fat ass layer of fiberglass behind the lips and any other voulnerable places right when u buy the kit. if you do that you will be alot better off

actually laying heavier layers weakens and weighs-down a kit. less resin= more strength.
