I think he is talking about the MAC Exhaust...... If so, yeah Mac sounds pretty good..... I prefer the BBK or Bassani X-Pipe.... Is he doing headers as well ??????

running no cats is automatically going to make his car loud, you dont need an X pipe to achieve loud. the x-pipe will balance out the flow of the exhaust resulting in maybe a few hp gain if any.

just get some penetrating oil and spray down the bolts connecting the cat to the exhaust replace cat with a piece of equal size pipe, they call this a race test pipe.

You can do this two ways:
1. cut off the donuts and use a coupler pipe such as a 2.5" to 2.5" and either weld it (best results) or use exhaust clamps (exhaust leaks much more likely, even louder sound with exhaust leak).

2. get the same diameter pipe and buy the donut clamp deals they sell at autozone to make your own exhaust and bolt it up using existing hardware in place of the cat. (best if your ever want to put your cat back on, just unbolt and replace. no need to use the donut deals on your cut factory pipe)

If it is a "MAC Prochamber", then it will make his car much louder, and deeper. It will sound very "Unclean" though. If it is an "H-Pipe", then it will sound great with a pair of chambered mufflers. You can put this pipe on with the stock catback and it will still sound great though. He will get a lot of "Backpopping" though. The stock cats on fords are extremely restrictive, and there is a surprising amount of horsepower to be made there for the dollar amount of the part. He could expect between 10-15 whp if it is an offroad model -(no cats). Expect another 8-10 with a nice catback system. I personally have always preferred "X-Pipes" though just because of the more straightthrough design and the cleaner sound that you get out of them. The saying goes: X-Pipe with straightthrough mufflers, and H-Pipe with chambered mufflers.

well if u want to see the x-pipe go to www.brenspeed.com (http://www.brenspeed.com) and look on 4.6 mustang then look where it has headers x-pipe they will show you the pic of it and also he's getting headers but later for now just the x-pipe the headers he's going to get are BBK shorty headers and thats it so now you have some information.

If I were him, I would definately spend the extra money and go with the Mac Pro-Chambers....... That is, if he has his heart set on Mac Performance that is...... I use their Upper & Lower Control Arms and I love them.. .except for the bushing problem anyway... but they took care of that for me, no problems...
