thanks for the compliments.
actually i'm getting 01+injectors(24lbs/hr vs 19lbs) i already have comp 915 springs, and i got a cam and sent it back due to pitting. i'll either get a TR224 or an 02-04 LS6 cam. but before i do the cam i need a real exhaust system and some long tubes.

i know a guy in town that has longtubes damn that would be awesome to hear a cam on a big truck

i see it all the time, but it's not something most people see a lot. lol
yea the 5.3 is basically a downsized LS1, so all the parts are interchangeable.

stock it ran a 16.4 in winter. with the stall i ran a 16.1. (both winter times). beforei got my tune i ran a 16.4 in summer. immediately after he tuned it i ran a 15.8 in the same conditions. i'm waiting for it to cool off so i can see what it can do like it is.... launching in 4wd of course.

You oughta try to take it out of 4WD and put more to the rear wheels..... I dont think on a Bio truck you will have many traction problems at the track... the track is way more stickier than the street...... You might get better numbers by using 2WD ... now if you were boosted or something, then I could see the point in using 4wd.....
rumblebox
06-12-2006, 10:36 PM
lol. i'm not new at this. i am tractionless in 2wd even on a sticky track. i launch in 4wd and hit the 2wd button instantly, it takes a couple seconds, so by the end of hte 60 foot i'm in 2wd. if i had some slicks i wouldnt need the 4wd, but the idea is to not need seperate tires for the track. also there is a low 10 second Z71 in nebraska. he lowered it and uses the 4wd for traction. it would be impossible for him to do what he's doing with a 2wd. go to www.1320video.com (http://www.1320video.com) and go to videos. his name is Parish. a 5000 lbs truck with a 10.08@136 record. dynod 1011 HP OFF the bottle. he's a sick fuck.

Again, he is a 10 second truck... definately see why he would need to use the 4wd..... but you in the hihg 15's... i dont think you need to use it ... not to mention the shifting on the fly from 4wd to 2wd ... I know that they say you can do it and all, but do you really want to risk blowing your transfer case ???? I did that shift on the fly from 2wd to 4wd and also from 4wd to 2wd while rolling and it only took once for it to make some god awful sound before i decided to NEVER shift on the fly again..... I prefer to STOP, click the botton or turn it (whichever) listen to it engage or disengage then proceed...... I was trying to make a statement about the power transfer issue...... if you have power being transerred to all 4 wheels evenly, then your launch is weaker than that with all your power being put to the back.... I know you may tell me something about the little as EVO's or some shit like that being AWD... they are made that way and desingend that way... Not a Truck... A truck is desinged to be used with the rear tires..... I think that if you launched in 2wd, your 60 ft times may be a little quicker instead of switching your drivetrain during the 60 ft...... Im just simply saying, your truck is not putting down enough horsepower to warrant the use of 4wd... you do what you want, its your truck... am just trying to make a suggestion to help you get better times.... thats all.....
btw, I am not NEW to drag racing either.... i was Drag racing while you were still in Elementry school..... hehehe
i dont know bulldog i launched with an explorer in 4wd low then switched to 2H and it seemed faster than launching with 2wd plus less wheel spin. but what do i know it was a damn explorer so i will shut up now lol. :thumbright:
oh and if youve got enough torque launching in 4L you can pop a wheelie and break your driveshaft. my dad did that with his old c10 shorty, had a built 454 in it, lifted the front end up and snapped the two piece in half racing a corvette, he went back with a solid driveshaft and kicked the corvettes ass.

you're stating simple physics. yes i have more drivetrain loss in 4wd, but i dont have the tires to launch in 2wd. but my 60ft times with the DT loss in 4wd are better than spinning my ass off in 2wd. if i had slicks i wouldnt even touch the 4wd button. and the newer trucks are designed to go in and out of 4wd quickly. it's a frikkin AUTOTRAC transfer case. lol
switching between ranges requires you to stop the vehicle first though. it'll just keep blinking until you stop then switch.
and on the high 15s comment. the truck weighs 5040 lbs stripped. 15s on my truck are like 13s or 14s on a car

ooo no dont start the whole "I weigh more so Im slower" crap. Its all about power to weight ratio. My old eclipse weighed approx 2600lbs with me in it, therefore it only needed its 150hp to run low 16s.
that being an example, double the weight (approx what your truck weighs) and then double the HP (approx your trucks HP to the wheels) and there you go. low 16s high 15s.

you're basically right, but you have to take into account the wind restistance and all that crap, but yea. you pretty much said what i said.
wow 150 hp to run a 16? my car weighs the same and with 150 i should be in the high 14's.

I am not saying that your truck is slow by any means.... it is fast, for a truck.... i had an 89' Ford Ranger that ran 15.9's Consistently... it had a 2.9L v-6, .60 Bore, LT Headers, Exhaust, & Intake....
I just think that if you were to lower your tire pressure to say 20 - 25, do a good burnout, you wouldnt need to use 4wd..... Again, I may be totally wrong.. your truck may act differently... I dont know, I am only trying to share my knowledge & experience of Drag Racing with you.....
Thats what this site is intended for, is to help others out, share our knowledge, and all learn from everyone else.... Although, some people think differently and all they do is talk shit on here and post up pictures FINE ASS girls every now & then.... LOL

i never said i wasnt getting slicks. lol. instead of just buying new tires i'm going to get some 05 17s with new tires already on them for the same price...THEN use a pair of old rims for slicks.
