how high of compression can you go b4 you have to run race gas?

i think its somewhere around 13:1.

figured i start something else to talk about.

Think it depends on the engine. If I go any higher than 11:1 I would need something more than 93octane. But for 106 octane I think your right.

yea cause im goin to build a lil monster and i really dont wanna be bringing home barrels of race gas and i wanna try and get the most hp out of it i can. im thinking about 12.5:1 and with this speacial headgasket makes it 12.9:1 and thats pretty high.

theres alot of factors to a ? like that. are you going to use forged pistons or cast? it also depends on the temperature. on a hot day you can detonate where you wouldnt on a cooler day, also depends on the tuning. more agressive tuning will make more power but the engine may not last as long with hi cr you have to monitor detonation which will be hard to do in your car. for a cr that hi i would def use forged pistons and either mix the fuel or just run race fuel as insurance for the engine. just my .02 later jason

also for the regular person daily driving you should be ok with 93 octane,but if your going to get on it i would mix the fuel at a min.

well i think 12.5:1 will be alright with 93 octane couple of friends i know run like that and not even tuned.

Also timing plays a factor too, don't have the timing too advance for street driving. When you go to the track, put some race gas in and bump the timing up. A J&S Knock sensor would be a good investment too, it backs the timing if it see's any knock.
