Invest wisely my friend. All project cars worth anything must have a good foundation, including a 1000 hp street T/A. You get what you pay for. No engine+no computer=5K rip off for that price, unless you are going crate engine and can get the body cheaper. I would stick with a T/A with everything in it (thats been taken care of) and build up from that.Try searching in the Houston and San antonio, etc. sunday paper, auto trader.com,Ebay motors, etc. Be patient and don't jump at the first potential buy. I would do my homework with the kelly, etc, blue books first to determine ball park market value on what your shopping for so you can negotiate wisely.
Trust me I have had a few project cars in my history. Have 3 going right now. 2 camaros, one is mine and the other my sons and my MR2 (got car for 900.00 and have already put thousands into it).
BTW- most T/A and Camaro Z28 owners don't want to sell their cars anyway and regret it when they do, LOL. We just want to make them go faster! Don't see many Z's or Screaming Chickens in the paper do you?
Take care and Good luck

what would you want 1000hp for? I used to CONSTANTLY read a quote that DTD had on his sig because of its trueness. I believe it was a guote from, as put it, the "father of the Miata"

"If you cant go fast with 90hp, 900 wont help you"

Basically, its saying that ANYONE can push a gas pedal. However, how you CONTROL your gas pedal (in harmony with the rest of your vehicle) thats what makes you a good driver.

or am I missing the correct concept drop top?

The reason i want this car is bc i have always dreamed that i would grow up to be a drag racer, if not professionally on weekends. you tell me one car with 90 hp that can beat a 900 hp car, both with the drivers of the same skill level. i want to see that race.

Why does it matter why i want 1000 hp? its my decision? does everybody have to put there two cents in and tell me not to do it. its my dream car and im going to build it no matter what kind of crap some people tell me. its going to be mostly a drag car, bc i want to get down to low 9's, high 8's. my car is not going to be a car i take out on road courses so whats wrong with me having 1000 hp? thanks sorry if i offended anyone.

I by no means meant it as you shouldnt do it...Its your money, time, and patients. If you want to (and can) do it, by all means GO FOR IT. I know exactly what its like to have a project that you want to get done more than anything, come to think of it, its STILL sitting in the driveway of my parents old house UNFINISHED. I had the time and money, but not the patients. Once I got one thing done, something else would need attention. and it was all body modifications that were required.

All my project was, was to take the front end of one car (2g eclipse) and put it on the front of my dodge avenger. Though they are very similar cars, the frames are different lengths and widths. So I did a complete frame swap from the windshield forward, got the eclipse body parts put on to proper fitment, and was awaiting paint, when all of a sudden things started crapping out on me. first the ignition, then the front clip was warping due to stress, then the rad. core support started twisting, then this, then that. I finally just had it and parked it...Then ended up just buying a 2g eclipse and takeing the nice body parts off the venge and putting the stock eclipse parts onto it. SO NOW I have a mostly completed project car, that hasnt ran in years and is just collecting dust of rust.

i have quite a bit of patience now since i built my truck that you see in my sig. it had so many problems and week after week i would have to tear something else down and fix it. it took a year and a half to get that truck on the road. of course we only put a little over $16,000 into it.

i know for a fact that this project is going to take some time and im ok with that because i know it will all be worth it to run in the 9's when it is finished. it may be two years from now it my be five but im ok with that.

i used to have a 72 chevelle project my dad and i started but we got some of it sanded and we just quit and lost all patience with it so i definitely know how you feel abstract_zer0. Sorry for being rude about your post earlier i thought you were knocking on me for wanting to go through with this project.
