well quit complaining everyone i just paid a grand for all my tickets. Goodbye tax and other money. Oh street racing, speeding, and showing off are not a good idea. You will get caught eventually and be like me and pay alot of money.

Oh and best advice is to just pay it or you could take defensice ddriving but either way it comes out to about the same cost.

go in this order.........

go to the municiple courthouse

request for defensive driving

plead no contest

pay your court fees

learn to drive the speed limit

Karen
03-02-2007, 03:20 PM
i was driving the speed limit. i was actually driving 20 miles under the speed limit.

ya but by the time you take defensive driving and pay for your records and all the other b.s. it comes out to about the same.

Karen
03-02-2007, 03:21 PM
but some ppl dont want the ticket to go on their record, which is why they take defensive driving.

i geuss thats true too

03-02-2007, 07:21 PM
I believe they wont let you take defensive driving if it was more than 10 miles over the speed limit.

You are true about it equals to about the same but if you get defensive driving it won't show on your record. See if they will give you deferred adjudication.

Not really, you wind up saving in the long run because it does not go on your driving record thus your insurance premiums will not go up if your record is clean. Plead nolo contendre (no contest) and take defensive driving. Some insurances may even discount your rate for taking the class. Just my .02.

it's 25moh over now as the limit for DD.

Yeah, if you get adjudication you may have to sign paperwork and not get a traffic violation for what...60 days...? I forgot how long mine was...needless to say I didn't make it.

its called Deferred Adjudification and its based on how long the judge wants to give you. in essencse its probation I did mine for a year.

Ahem, it is called Differed Adjudication there Dean ....

Wow .. So many other cops on this board .. i didnt realize that there were so many of us on here ... :hellothere: Other Police Officers :hellothere:

Anyways, You options are as follows:

1. Plead Guilty and pay the fine.

2. Plead Not Guilty and take it to court and either have a Bench Trial (Trial by Judge) or a Jury Trial

3. Plead Nolo Contendre (No Contest) on your court date and the Judge will determine a fine or whatever. This is the time that you can ask for Differred Adjudication. Basically probation for however long the Judge determines it to be. You must not get a ticket during this time or else you will be convicted of the new citation and the old and your are ... how should i say it ???? FUKED!!!!!

4. Go to the Court that the Citation is out of, request to take defensive driving, you have 90 (i think) days to take it, pay the court cost and also the Defensive Driving Class (Internet, Movie, Classroom, etc.. are your options for the test).

5. Dont do nothing, dont talk to anybody, dont pay no fines ............ and get hunted down by the BULLDOG!!!!!! Muhahahaha

Oh Yeah, dont forget about the points on your Drivers License as well and all the fines you have to pay each year just to get it renewed and what not ....

So Defensive Driving is your best, safest, bet ... Plus most Insurance Companies will give you a 10% discount on your premium.

03-05-2007, 06:15 PM
i got a ticket for following too close and failure to control speed and the differed adjudication period was 30 days and I had to pay an extra 20$ on each ticket

300$ total >.<

ouch

It may cost but it is better than going on your record and possibly raising your insurance rates. I have taken that route many times and I think it was worth it.

I think I'm just going to take the defensive driving

yea but the ticket wont be on oyour record if you take defensive driving. the only ticket i have ever gotten was for rolling through a stop sign. i pled nolo contendre or whatever the eff it is. i took defensive driving and now i still have a perfect record.

guess you aint never got a ticket here in Karnes County ... they dont dismiss for errors on the ticket .. especially if the officer identifies the driver and gets the type of vehicle correct, which we always do ... :) Everbody makes spelling or grammatical errors ... :)

In the small towns .. MOST of the officers live in the town they work or atleast within the county... Plus in small towns ... we will just reschedule if the cop cant be there.... :):)

It may not take long to get through Kenedy but you still have to get through the rest of the county. Also to add what Bulldog says about not getting dismissed, it isn't what is on the ticket that counts it what is on the complaint that is turned in with the ticket that matters. There could be many errors on the ticket but as long as the complaint is correct that is all that counts. Yep the officer gets one continuance.

im actually on differd adjudification right now for 53 in a 35 on navarro. i had to pay about 225 in order to keep it from going on my record. i have to be a good driver for 3 months. its been hard but im managing. im glad that have the diff. adj. if not i would have had to have the ticket on my record. i have taken defensive driving 3 times in the last two years. so i had no other choice.

i just ask for the video..if that works then ask for there calibration logs...and if that doesnt work then ask for there license to operate a radar...gets u out everytime..most police officers are licensed to operate a radar..but most times they dont bring there certification to court..and now there coming out with self calibrating radars so....its gettin harder to get outta a ticket...

Yeah, the Radars nowadays calibrate themselves everytime that you turn it on ... we verify that with the little sound picks or whatever ... we are NOT REQUIRED to keep a log of that. Also, the speedometers in our cars are FACTORY CALIBRATED!!!! And when our radars get installed at the shop, they also check the calibration of the vehicle and the radar to make sure they match ... this is done Once a Year after calibration as well. I carry my Radar License on me ALL THE TIME!!!! Oh yeah, and Officers DO NOT HAVE to use Radar to judge your speed!!! We are trained to estimate your speed by visually looking at your vehicle and if we CHOOSE to do so, we VERIFY it with the Radar Unit .... I have written tickets WITHOUT using the radar and they have flown :)

There is also the good old exceed posted speed limit instead of an exact speeding ticket. I am sure Bulldog has filed those.

video--- not needed to issue a ticket in TX.
Look at the Radar lock--- Not Needed in the state of TX.
Calibration Records-- you will always loose.
What it comes down to is whether the judge likes you or not, or if they like the cop or not. Even if you go w/ a jury trial....if you look at the statistics of actual ticket wins on jury trials...you will never ask for a jury trial. And docket trials are greatly in favor of the officer. Just because someone here has been able to get out of a ticket, doesn't mean many of us will.

Oh...and another option over getting it deffered after the 1st one of the year, plead to the DA. Sometimes they will let you get by w/ a 2nd or 3rd ticket during the year, at the same cost.

04-03-2007, 06:15 PM
the DA was a dick to me and I still won my case because the cop said he was catching up to my car doing 50 not I was doing 50. I bet he really regretted saying that.

Hey bulldog I know first hand about your judgment of speed, remember.

04-03-2007, 10:21 PM
Why is it that they can reschedule if the cop can't show...but if the person that got the ticket doesn't show then they issue a warrant. I tend to think that it really leans towards the PD. I dunno...this is a topic that gets me worked up just thinking bout it.

its kinda sad sometimes, the one ticket i have on my record, outa the 6 that were issued to me, 5 were droped. Was stupid and bad work on the cops part.... I guess thats what i get for geting outa the other 5....

You CAN reshchedule a hearing .. you can do it once .. you have that right ...

If you flat out DONT SHOW UP without letting them know you cant, then yeah, you get a Warrant issued for your arrest ... Ever heard of a Telephone ??? Real great invention created by Alexander Bell ... Might try using it when you CANT show up for court and ask them to reschedule your hearing ....
