Early thrusday morning my father and I are heading out to the Dallas area to get me a tranny swap. I have been having alot of problems with my transmission since I've had the car and it's finally time to fix the problem. I will lose the TREMEC T-3650 and will be changing to the TKO-500. Hope all goes well and the car will be ready to go by mid-day Friday.

Well I wanted the T-56 but my dad pushed the reality of the things on me and I realized I couldnt quite afford it. We narrowed it down to either TKO-500 and the TKO-600. Ulitmately, we read better things on the TKO-500.

you can find a used t-56 on svtperformance for a decent amount

oh and since you are having the transmission out anyways are you switching the clutch and input shaft?

I'm going to be in debt head over heels in my car and I just feel more comfrontable buying a brand new transmission. I just got a stage 2 centerforce dual friction clutch put in on Jan. As for the input shaft...can you clarify exactly what that is for me? It that what makes the connection between the clutch and tranny?

It is what makes the connection between the engine and the tranny ... if you go with the 10 spline input shaft ... it is alot stronger than the stock (i think stock is 23 spline or something like that) the 10 is WAY Stronger and wont break ... :)

Ya I believe you do have that backwards. We are staying w/ the 10 spline simply because of budget tho.

I input shaft is the shaft that sticks out front of the tranny that goes into the clutch disc. The throw out bearing slides on the shaft Im unsure of what yall are talking about. You have the engine / flywheel / clutch disc / pressure plate/ throw out bearing in that order. Now as for as the spline on the input shaft then the more splines is better because there is more contact area / surface area that is in contact. Just like when you put 33 spline axles in your rear end over the 28 or 31 spline axles. You will just have more surface area.

I do have it backwards.... I was half asleep when I posted that ....

Basically the more splines you have, the stronger it is .... just like the "GUEST" (who wont register) said. I have swapped out my rear end for the 31 Spline ....

I guess I should have put the crack pipe down before posting ... LOL

It isn't a big deal...just something we haven't got around to fixing yet. Thanks for the reminder!
