issues with racism

Ok admins, just to start Im not sure if this is supposed to be in flamethrowers due to its content, so I just put it here. Before reading this, please take into consideration that this is simply my opoinion and in no way a racial flame. Its just some stuff that had been eating at me over the last couple weeks and the cause for it angering me is throughout the post

Ok so since most of you probably havent heard about this huge racial battle going on here in Paris over the last few weeks so Ill fill you as best I can. A couple years ago a white student in one of the highschools here shoved a teacher aid. She went to court and the judge gave her probation with community service (along with the school's punishment of suspension). Just over a year ago, a 14yr old black student in the same highschool punched a teacher aid and gave her a concussion. At court, the judge again offered probation along with community service. The girls mother fought it and the girl kept going with the story that she did not hit the TA. So the case went to a jury court and the jury found her guilty and gave her a sentence of up to seven years in a youth correctional facility. It wasnt until a few weeks ago that the shit hit fan. Her mother started claiming how the school district and judge were racist for giving her daughter "jail time" while the white student was only sentenced to probation.

Within days, this story made the Chicago Tribune and the girl became an overnight nation wide sympathy story. What made it worse, was that the tribune had the story wrong. They said that they girl was sentenced to 7yrs indeffinately...no ifs ands or buts about it...A week and a half ago, the Black Panthers were in town and having "demonstrations" infront of city hall about how Paris is such a racist town. This then caught the eye of the KKK who came to paris and then held their own rallies infront of the highschool the girl had attended saying that they were protecting the "righteous" students (whites) from the "racial injustices that are the black panthers". For 4 days, the rallies and demos were held throughout the city.

The girl however, Shaquanda Cotton, was getting more and more publicity from such sources as BET. However, at the beginning of all this protest, the NAACP denied any support for her because of her arrest record and "documented mental status" prior to the incident in her school. She tried killing herself two or three times in the facility over the year, and claimed to have been sexually assaulted by a guard. This then made her story one of sympathy throughout the black community.

So after the 4 days of rallying, the court released the girl back into the custody of her mother. Their reasoning was due to the fact the courts are too busy to handle a case of this magnitude.

Ok so they didnt like all the negative attention, somewhat understandable. However now think about the fact that everytime someone is "wrongfully sentenced" to jail time, all they will have to do is claim racism or draw ample amounts of negative attention towards the judicial system that sentenced them in the first place and they will be released (hopefully). It just blows my mind that this so called "racist jury" was OK'ed by the girl and her mother. kinda late to claim racism dont you think?

Damn that was long....well to me the students should not have touched a teacher...and in my eyes the law usually is color blind..i know that there are cases that color is an issue..the reason that theres all this tension here in v-town is because of the rednecks..im not sayin that there all bad but ive seen them walk up and down the hals just yelling F*^@ Nig^%# now i look down on racism and there is still tension between the blacks and rednecks...honestly i think that racism is dead it happend generations ago why is our generation carrying on this way of life....its retarted to me

I agree that its something that for the most part ended many years ago...However alot of people these days seem to have something to prove to the world by acting like some sort of hardass...

Unfortunately, due to the way I was brought up, the environment I was brought up in, and the things Ive seen/experienced throughout my short life so far, Im somewhat racist.

Im aware of color differences between different nationalities, but my "racism" isnt towards a particular color or people. Its towards a particular attitude that certain people in ALL nationalities. I have several black friends who I am very cool with...but then there are the (insert "N" word here) who have the very distinct attitude about them. The same goes for mexicans. I have quite a few mexican friends. However Im in no way fond of the mexicans who show the attitude that some in victoria do...(insert common illegal mexican american word here). Just as well with the white trash that are common throughout the south. I hate the fact that people try and put on some sort of attitude to try and make themselves look like a badass

I dont have problems with any particular race, just a problem with certain groups of people in all nationalities with certain attitudes and personalities.

I agree with you about the attitude thing.. i hate it..now there are black people that deserve to get there ass beat..example i was walkin to some class and one of my friends stops me and starts talkin now i moved outta the way so that other people didnt have to stop this black guy comes from the other side of the hall just to bump into me now i dotn like to be touched/bumped so i turned around pretty quick i didnt say anything i was waiting for him to appoligize...but instead of addmitting he was wrong he has the nerve to say "move you dumbass white boy" i was gonna say somethin to him and give him a piece of my mind but i happend to see that there was a peice of blue cloth hangin from his pocket witch ment he was part of the "crips" and the black guys behined him had the same things...now if i wanted to i coulda went and said somethin BUT i prob woulda got shot by some random black guy so i let it slide....i know where the hate comes from and why my family is somewhat racist..and unfortunalty my female cousin "crystal" has turned out to be racist..me and josh are the only people on the family that dont care about color...Why does color matter..the only thing that matters to me is personality and character...

honestly dude, chances are if theyre sportin the blue bandanas they're just wanna be crips. I remember when I was in highschool, alot of little thugs would talk about being bloods or crips or whatever and it was (still is) rediculous!! just more people trying to be the alpha and it gets really old really quick. I believe in the same principles, you treat me right, and you get treated right, no matter what color. From my experiences, I've been dealt some pretty shitty deals from people of all races. But I've been dealt more of them from black people and hispanics not as much and very few whites. Now, I'm not trying to imply anything here. I get along w/everyone who is cool w/me. Makes no difference to me color. But I do have a huge issue w/the way the government deals with other races. I've never been given a damn thing but a hard time like the next person so why in the hell should someone get a "better deal" or have it "easier" because they are of a different race? What ever happened to rewarding the people who do good and act civil with one another? The trash of this country gets rewarded for doing wrong. Making too damn many babies that WE have to pay for with OUR money. Putting convicts in prison so that they can live reasonably comfy. You know, you have to pass a drug test and take them from time to time when you're hired at a new job, but you don't see any requirements for the lazy screwups to get on welfare. The people who actually need it I can understand, but 99% of the people on welfare fall under the "sorry ass, too lazy to work or don't give a shit" category. It burns my ass to think that a black person should be paid back some "debt" to them that we all owe. Yes slavery was a fucked up thing but look at the bright side, if it weren't for that, they wouldn't be here as much as today anyways!! So why look at the bad side?? In the ghettos and barrios, the people who choose to live there are pretty much the same mentality. "I've been dealt a bad deal and can't do anything about it so I'll just get by with what suits me." I say get off of your ass and DO something about it instead of making excuses!! We all have the chance to make something of ourselves. True, our parents might have not been the best examples of how to live, but we as adults have the choice to live how we want and do what we want. Parents nowadays in general don't whip their kids asses. They lety them get away with everything and anything. When I was a kid, if I mouthed off to a teacher, I got sent to the principal and got 3 licks w/a paddle. When I got home, I got more of the same. Didn't happen too many times. Kids get sent to the office today and get " a stern lecture" on what not to do. Where's the morality of that??? All that teaches a kid is go do something bad and nothing really bad will ever happen to you. CPS workers who harass parents who believe in whipping their kid need to think about back when they were a kid. Most parents don't do it in a bad way and only give it if really needed. I would punish my child that way only if he/she did something that truly deserved it. And there is a difference between a whippin' and a beating. I could go on and on but the whole summary is that society in general has degenerated into a lot of people w/no self respect or sense of morality. I'm done for now......lol.

all ireally have to say on the subject is that other races claim that white peopleare racists, when they themselves are the ones talking shit. now im not racist, i have friends of many different races. my girlfriend is mexican and her dad came straight from mexico. hes a great guy and doesnt look down on me and i respect him. but i have heard other people claim white people are racists when they are commiting hate crimes. all races have comitted hate crimes. everyone can be racists to an extent. i have no problem with anyone unless they come up to me and start something.

i have had guns and knives pulled on me by different people and not once has any of them had the balls to use them but those are the people that give all races a bad name.

I only read the first couple of paragraphs..

I'm not racist in anyway, but I do strongly believe there is shit in every race, and unfortunatly they make the good people look really bad..

Now, onto the story, you have a white kid SHOVING a teachers aid, and getting suspended and whatever else.. now you have a blcak kid PUNCHING a TA and getting the same punishment, and then making a big deal of it and then getting 7 years in juvi.. hmm.. don't seem like a racist thing to me.. to me, the black kid got off easy considering he/she PUNCH the TA.. up here, you lay your hand on a teacher or aidm guess what? you get kicked out of school for good.. they have a VERY strict "no tolerance" policy in place..

and second. i fall under the type who hates the attitude, not the color. you will DEFFINATELY hear me use racist terms. but it never, EVER applies to every person of that particular race...and often a single term gets used in reference to all skin colors. when my cousin pisses me off i call him the N word. hell...i call SCOTT the N word. lol. i think blacks these days fail to realize that its JUST A WORD...and its only as bad as you make it out to be.
