Who do I have to kill to get that vette?
thatboyvic
05-11-2007, 01:34 PM
the vette is a classic and i am sure the value goes up in time... as the 240 i love em, great cars but you have to work to make it fast unlike the vette... i love a challenge. so if i were you i would geta project and build it up yourself
Jitsu Jr.
05-11-2007, 02:23 PM
lol,
the project for almost any vette found these days is going to be mostly aesthetics
but ya, making a car fast is half the fun : D
i agree

damnit jr!! what did I tell you about putting pictures of my vette up on here without my permission???
oh and ur hp numbers are a bit off....the most powerful 454 GM ever put into a vette was the L-88....it was rated at more like 435hp
abstract_zer0
05-11-2007, 07:03 PM
oh and 0-60 was more like the area between 5 and 6 seconds and top speed of somewhere in the 150s

Im pretty sure an l88 was not a 454 it was a 427.
I think your talking about the ls6 454 that they put in 71 which had 425.

05-11-2007, 09:51 PM
The L88 was indeed a 427 cu in V8 rated for 490hp but put out instead 545hp. Seen said engine on the dyno rebuilt to stock specs. Was basically a race engine put into a street chassis.....lol.

working your ass of 6-7 days a week and building a 12 second drag car from ground up doing all the work yourelf and actually putting your heart into a build
getting a stock 12 second car from the mommy and daddy foundation and not doing any personal work on it
hahahahahahhahahaha i love you daniel

hey brandon
mommy and daddy are only getting it because of the 14,000$ in scholarships that I EARNED after working my ass off all of my school career in and out of the classroom
so stfu before you know the facts
Jitsu Jr.
05-11-2007, 11:51 PM
oh yeah, and its not mommy and daddy
Its just daddy honoring a promise he made a long time ago.

How about the JOY & PLEASURE that Daddy gets seeing his son in his (Daddy's) car and learning the ins and outs of drag racing and letting his son follow in his legacy and continuing that legacy ??? What about that ???
So maybe one day, Jr. will get into the scene with his OWN money and will also teach his son what his dad taught him and pass the legacy on for generations ???
What about that ?????
Now :stfu:
End of Church Sermon.......

in the end it doesnt matter to me cuz i earned my scholorships, have to take a loan out for college, pay my own insurance, pay for my own gas, build a drag car, all while working full-time hours and going to school so ur talkin to the wrong person when ur talking about earning your things.....
so excuse me bulldog for not having an all-mighty family legacy to live up to and race my dads car, then talk shit to everyone cuz i can beat them in a car that my dad owns.
sometimes yall make no sense

First let me say that I have nothing but the highest respect for you Brandon. I respect all the accomplishments you have achieved with your hard work and dedication. I think that your abilities and dedication are notable and not in question. Daniel and I respect you a bunch!!!!
By the same token Daniel has accomplished a great deal of things that most people are not even aware of in his life. Many times Daniel has also been under my car to help me out in the process of building the Sleeper to where it is at today. He should not be penalized because I can do this with him. This racecar was built for a few purposes:
1. to give my son and I an activity that we could do together as father and son, apart from others, that will give us lifelong memories.
2. Do something for my son that my dad did not do for me- be involved in his life other than day to day stuff. Those who play together stay together!
3. teach my son about racing in stages, as his abilities improve, so does the speed and performance of the car.
4. Hope that he will learn life lessons through racing such as the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. And when you loose you hold your head up high and get ready to come back even stronger. When you win you do it graciously and with respect and humility. Allways see your opponent as a warrior in his own right and respect him for that, win or loose. Without honor we have nothing!
5. Hope that he would pass the Legacy on to my grandkids, male or female, as Bulldog said.
He deserves whatever I give him because he works for it. I don't give undeserved freebies, not even to my kids.

im i the only one that got a little teary eyed in that speech??? thats exactly why i love my dad because we built my truck together and plan on building up a 70 chevelle ss one of these days. building a vehicle builds a bond like no other thing can. i too hope to carry that down to my kids and grandkids also.
im not going to vote because both cars are amazing. All people are created equal so someone that is a member of the so called "mommy and daddy foundation" is the same as someone who has worked there ass off from day one.

get the 240 and put an effing LS1 in it!!!

05-12-2007, 01:52 PM
I see things both ways. I love to build my own cars and stuff but everyday I wish my dad would come to help me or build one together... We were suppose to build the 3000gt together... It didnt go so great but hey after years of bugging and begging it looks like i am going to keep it after all and he is gonna help.... i just hope his idea isnt give me money and watch me work...lol i wish my dad was into drag racing and cars but he isnt.... we are 2 different people. i envy jitsu jr as well as respect bwake and envy him to for his dedication.... i just think it got too emotional up in here....lol lets all make up now

Brandon you know i respect everything that you do, how hard you work, and how much time and effort you put into your cars.
* you have much more immense knowledge of cars than me
* as well as many other things
I will be the first to admit that, you just got a head start into the car building scene and i hope one day I can put the dedication into a car just like you do into yours, whether it is a 4, 6 ,8 or 27 cylinder car, just like my father pointed out it is the bonding that comes from the build and the race that matters.
The only thing that makes me mad is you think daddy is just handing stuff out and im a spoiled rotten bitch. I'm not and I work for my things in life. Obviously not nearly is much as you but thats how my cookie crumbled.
Im sorry if i sounded offensive or I talked mess to anyone backing it up with the camaro. It is not "my" car. Though i have donated time and effort into making the car what it is. Not to say i havent gotten plenty of kills in it. : D

PS
the poll was not meant to show what car i should get, it was a rebuttal to bwake saying something in a different forum how
i'm "gonna need more than a corvette" to beat him

i apologize, things were heated up. these are 2 different respectable stories, im not gonna lie, i wish my dad was here helping me with my builds instead of having to learn things the hard way its just that i dont have that. so in a way maybe im just mad that i dont have help. sorry once again, 2 different situations, both respectable by my point of view.
ps i was kidding about you needing more than a corvette

im no punk bitch, my car was bought for me as a grad. present. and what?
the cost was plenty. But i dont rag on it a bit, i have the utmost respect for my parents and this car, im not some stuck up prick who flaunts everything but knows nothing about cars.
We settled that id pay for half and i still have a whase but this whole school year i havnt been able to get a job because i didnt get out until around 5:30(1-6blocks and then 2-3 hours of golf....).... So count me as apart of the mommy and daddy foundation.

thats the way to do it, keep it real, but starting out with that statment makes it seem that is what you felt like after bwakes comments.... I am sure most of what he said was taken the wrong way. He didnt mean for all this to come from that you know. My dad has bought most of my cars or helped but I dont say anything about it nor was I offended. He buys me projects though and I build em. My last car was 200 bux and had offers of 6500 when it was finished. Our Nissan was 500 bux down 150 a month...lol and it turned out clean... all work done by myself. But you know some people are lucky and some are not. The Nissan I got myself though. He is actually going to help me buy a 3000gt w/Single turbo conversion today!!! Hopefully it goes good. We will see around 6:30
