well me gears that are in it right now are torn up and since im gonna be having to get new ones and a friend had 3.73s i decided to just buy them for 80 dollars. And yes i will be racing at the track every once in awhile. I decided i couldnt just let a passion of mine go altogether. Racing is in my blood but just at the track from now on. Oh and 3.73 are street/strip gears not just racing gears. If i wanted to be serious about racing i would go with 4.10s.

alright i was trying to say that because i put some steeper gears in doesnt mean i will be racing. Show cars to me have to show and perform. They cant just look good and run like crap.

what is the problem with your current gears????? It may not be your gears and may actually be your differential and/or your splines ....
I may be able to do this install for you... most shops charge about $300 - $350 to do the install due to the time involved in the job .....
If a particular shop is available any time soon, and if that particular person is available, our price would be around $150 - $200 ....... This would cover shop use, and labor ....
Maybe the other guy will chime in .....

rgr that .... :)
feel like making some extra cash and helping a fellow V-town member out ???
Is the price good ??? I couldnt remember what you charge for shop/tool fees ... :):)
I still need to drop the tank in my firebird, finally got the fuel pump in like a month ago just havent had time to do it. Its a pain in the ass to do it without a lift, you basically have to drop the rear end out to get it. damn american cars make stuff unacessable and time consuming I could drop the tank and install it back in on my mr2 in the time it would take to get the tank out of the firebird, lol.

ahhh ... OK .. I see now ... you didnt mention that you wanted to put 3.73's in your car in the previous thread ... All i saw was you posting about dropping the fuel tank ...
well you know I really dont want to put 3.73's in although at one time I did before gas was 3 dollars a gallon. I was just letting kurt know I wanted to use the lift, I was supposed to go over there a while back but my pump hadnt come in and I didnt have any time.

the 300-350 is a little high are pro's are asking 200-250 you would be money ahead paying Kurt an Brian to do it.

ok thanx for all the help but i found a professional to do it for 100. All im waiting for is my pinion and carrier shims and my crush sleeve to get here. Oh and you can hear my current gears grinding and humming when i downshift or come to a stop and i have about 3 inches of driveshaft play that when you turn it there is a popping noise that comes from the rear end right where the pumpkin is at.

Dude, your differential is FUKED!!!!!
DO NOT get the gears installed on that Differential..... It may screw those gears up as well .... You need to get a new differential bro.
Trust me, I know Rear-Ends ... I have had enough problems with mine to know.
I finally decided to upgrade to the 31 Spline Diff and Axles and have NO REGRETS!!!!!
Do the SMART thing and find you a Ford Racing 28 Spline Diff for around $300 or so and get it installed with the gears and a new bearing and seal kit as well .....
Or dont, and regret it later .....

yea i think thats the same thing that happened to my truck a while back thats why i have a 12 bolt rear instead of the stock 10 bolt.

its your rear end bro ... another thing you could do is go to a junk yard and find en old explorer rear-end (31 spline) or go find on from a wrecked mustang.
Im telling you, if your differential is bad, meaning the little pin holding the spider gears in is wallered out, it rattles around in there causing your spider gears to vibrate, which in turns makes your axles float in and out as well. This could cause your spider gears to vibrate too loose and then they shatter, which will in turn cause your c-clips to break and your axles could come right out of your car.... and if this happens when you are driving, we will all be attending your funeral.
Trust me, get this fixed RIGHT. save the $$$ or get a loan or something. Ask your parents to borrow the $$$ or something dude. I will Install ALL OF IT, for $150. Just go get you a Stock Differential for now and make sure that the pin is not wallered out.

Bulldog i just said im taking your advice but im gonna wait till i get everything apart to see if i really need it. I got it looked at and was told that it sounded like the crush sleeve is messed up and is allowing the pinion to slide in and out. That would explain the popping and grinding noises.
