Hey I got my exhaust done by Bobby at five star. He only put a single exhaust. I asked for a dual but he turned me down saying that I would lose torque. Dont get me wrong he did a good job(better than shaffers) but I really wanted dual. If I would have went to shaffers they would have charged me $380 but would I have really lost torque. I see many v6 with dual and they sound pretty nice. Wat do yall people think though? :?

Are they true duals...or twin exhaust tips on a single muffler?
I know that NA engines need some back pressure for low end torque...but if you are running a cat and midpipe w/ mufflers you shouldn't loose too much. 380 doesn't seem too bad if they are redoing the piping from the cat to the muffler...and you are getting a good muffler like a borla or something. Sorry i can't help much more...i'm running a 4 banger :D

Bobby is right you will just lose torque but if you dont care and just want the look and sound i say just get it done.

From a Mustang Owner:

If you put Duals on your 6, YOU WILL LOOSE TORQUE and back pressure. Think about it for a sec... right now you have 2 Exhaust Mani's that are 1 5/8 thick at the tip.. they go into a 2 1/4" pipe... you have good back pressure and torque.... Now you want to go Duals or even true duals.. Lets think about that.. to get equal amount of pressure for each exhaust mani, you would have to go to 1 1/8 pipe if you ran true duals, plus you have to get another cat, lots of $$$ there...... Now what would 1 1/8 pipe look like coming out of a STANG ????? Fuck'n SICK......
If you went with a Flowmaster that was single in Dual out, you will still loose some torque, but may gain a few HP to make up for the torque loss

Your Choice.....

If you want a Fast Mustang.... Buy a Cobra or GT........ Or Supercharge or Turbo your 6..... I know some people who have Cobra's for sell right now.... Not bad Prices either..... Sell your 6 and get an 8 for the same price!!!!!!!

The pre '05 six banger is not a modular motor. It is the old pushrod engine, very similar to our beloved 5.0 powerplant. The 3.8L engine could almost be confused with a 5.0, that had the back two cylinders chopped off. These engines will not lose a significant amount of torque with dual exhaust, as compared to a modular motor.

The exhaust set-up on a factory V6 starts with two exhaust manifolds, similar to a set of shorty headers, which dump into a dual catted mid-pipe. The end of the passenger-side mid-pipe turns into the the driver's side and exits through a single cat-back.

You can purchase a kit to do this, or just tap into the mid-pipe after the passenger side cat.

Bulldog is right in stating that you will spend a ton of money trying to make your V6 faster. If you want the performance and sound of a V8, buy a V8. I have a couple for sale!

I assume that you are young and are worried about the insurance, I know of a V6 car with a Cobra engine that might be for sale.
