how lonely are you? currently we are at md anderson in houston with my mom in icu. my brother, sister, myself and several family members are taking turns sitting with my mom so we are ok. we have seen several familys come and go with their loved ones rec. treatmentor pass awa. each patient has had several family members with them. well we have this one lady here in the waiting room with her son in the icu, he was rec chemo when he had a stroke. we have been in the icu since sunday, she and her son were in here before we arrived. well this lady lives in conneticite(SP) with her sister, her ex husband lives in her native poland and her 30 y/o son was a lawyer here in houston. she has been here with her son since he has been diagnosed with cancer. she has been very scared and hadnt eaten in days,we were able to befriend her and get her something to eat each day. well she just informed us 5 minutes ago that her son has passed away. it was so sad this lady has been here going throught this ordeal alone with noone to talk to till we got her to come out of her shell. she is terribly upset and alone we feel so bad for her. we have been going through hell with our mom but we havent been alone we have eachother. i see how hard it is for us but i cant begin to imagine what this lady is going through. i guess all we can do is continue to listen to her if she cares to talk but i dont think she will be here much longer.
i dont know the reason i am writting this but i guess whenever i think im alone in an ordeal i will remember her and the fact that i do have family to help me get through anything that i may get into. and that no matter how alone i may think i am i will never be as lonely as that lady is right now.

she and her son will be in my prayers for a long long time

Bulldogthanks brian we appreciate it. its been tough we have made friends with several families here. there was another family from c.c. they lost thier mom yesturday. they were here before us as well. i think she was 36 or 37 years old. frank and i went to get something from my moms apartment and we saw a small child around 3 years old walking with a walker and she had already lost her hair from her chemo treatments. it is so sad to see these kids suffering and going through something like this. some of these kids are braver and have more courage than i think i could ever have and they are just children. can you imagine practically fighting for your life when you are just a small child? alot of these kids are still so happy and full of life even though they are fighting for their lives they still will give you a smile and a cheerful greeting. it breaks my heart to see these kids like this i hope when i decide to have kids that they wont ever have to go through something like that. it really makes you put life into perspective.
