I would like to know wat everyones opinion on VLZ is.

Not being rude, but my opinion is.....Their cars look like crapola. I can picture them in a circus ring being driven by a clown with big shoes and a honky nose. They may have talent, but I don't like how they display it. I like stuff that doesn't scream "OMG!!! WTF?"

If you want someone, who knows a thing or two, about Mustangs........VLZ would be a wise choice. I know of several people, that have been very satisfied with their work. I consider Felipe a friend, and when I needed to sell my other '98 Cobra.....after I wrecked it......he was the first one I called. I think he did a good job of repairing it, and personally liked the paint scheme he did on it. I believe, most everyone did. They do create some cars that are a bit on the "wild side" for my taste, but they always seem to take home the trophies at the shows, and typically do not have a problem finding a buyer for such a car.........when the time comes to sell it. So, I guess they know what they are doing.

Again, in response to this thread.........speak from personal experience.........not what you heard!

Typically, they prefer to paint their graphics. The Saleen Pace car they did about 5 years ago, which Felipe recently bought back, had the horse painted on the side by John...........awesome work! The real pace car was a graphic......done on a computer, I believe!

When they use vinyl............I think it is probably to keep the costs down for the customer.

The vehicles that I am referring to are parked outside their shop. The colors are too contrasting for my taste...after all, this thread is titled "Opinion on VLZ". However, I may have not seen ALL of their cars, but the ones that I have seen. I really don't care for. Have you seen the yellow and white F150? It is hideous. :pukeright: (In my own opinion)

The only vehicles that I have seen that are even remotely "tasteful" is Steedasnakes old Steeda Cobra and the green/black 5.0. All the rest I have seen just scream, "Look at me!! I'm hideously ugly!!" Just my opinion tho. If I see the quality of their work up close, I'd be able to give a better opinion of quality. First impressions go a long way for me when it comes to body work and I have been so far, less than impressed.

The Saleen Pace Car came like that from Saleen .. they just painted the what used to be vinyls ...

The White F-150 is pretty neat looking in my opinion ... u ever seen it up close and the amount of detail in the paint ???

Felipe and John are stand up guys .... yeah they may paint some cars some exotic colors .. but sometimes, its what the customer wants ...

whoa the pace car they have did not come that way. It used to have a auto tranny and a six cylinder motor. Alot of work was done on that car. And yes this is a thread for opinions. So noone should bash another in here because that would break the rules of vtown

Yes, their "Pace Car" replica started life as a plain white 2000 Mustang GT. It had a 5spd originally, but the individual from North Carolina that bought it wanted an auto and a supercharger........VLZ installed these things prior to the buyer picking up the vehicle.

An opinion "a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter " Hmmmmmmmm...nowhere does it say to be rude, crude or disrespectful  Anyway, now that the English lesson has ended, my "opinion" on VLZ is: They do a great deal of intricate work on their cars. It doesn't matter if "I" like their paint schemes or if "I" like their work. They are producing these particular cars for other individuals who may have different taste than me. Their cars are very detailed and if any of you have ever taken the time to take a closer look, maybe you would appreciate the time and effort put into each of their cars. I personally have a great deal of appreciation for their work. The pics below are two of my favorite cars they have done, the other is the Saleen Pace clone. These were taken at our SOS car show ;)

I simply love the Tim Allen replica. That car took alot of work to paint the detail on it as well as to do it right. They will probably be the ones painting my Camaro with ghost flames. All I need now is the Money,lol......I also accept donations to the jitsu/Sleeper paint fund!

I'll give them credit for doing good work in the details, but the color schemes are way too "loud". They don't go together usually. But again, it's just my opinion. I may drop by one day to see up close how good they do as far as the details/finishing touches go.

when i lived in inez there was a guy with a newer model mazda truck that they had done some work on. it looked pretty good. the guy couldnt make up his mind if he wanted it lifted or lowered. he would change the suspension like every other week. i have to say it looked better lowered. as for their work, i like the "italian stallion" and a couple other vehicles theyve done. ive seen alot of their work and 75% of it isnt all that great.

Okay, okay, okay...Josh took Phil and I by VLZ and we checked out their work. So let me rehash my opinion...which is still an opinion, so ya'll don't get mad and say that I'm rude if my "opinion" is not the same as yours. Here goes...
Their work is good. The quality is good. The did a good job inside the doors, etc. One of their cars looked good (paint job) as a track car. However, I still think that their paint color combos that I see on some of their cars are a little.."whew". A little too bold for my taste. (And I have not seen all of their cars yet...so I can't say on all of them) This is only my opinion. (Same as I'm sure people think that my car is a POS. I don't care..it is an opinion.) Thanks Josh for taking the time to show us the quality of VLZ's work. Their quality is very good.

your very welcome. I think as you said that most people are judging the color schemes of the cars. Sure they are outlandish and very bold as you said. But those are wat those people wanted on their cars. As for the quality i think VLZ does a damn good job. The detail that is taken into painting is very precise. Even the door jams look clean and smooth. They even have a stock set of rims that they painted that look really well. My opinion is they do really good paint jobs.

Here is a question for most ...

If you saw that same type of wicked paint scheme on a Track Car that runs 8's in the 1/4 mile ... Would you still say that the paint scheme sucks ??

Most people who attend Track Events know and see that a lot of the cars at the track have some pretty wicked paint schemes ...

So whats the difference in putting a similar paint scheme on a Street Car and make it stand out a bit ??

We as a society always frown on things or people that want to be "different".

For example, I could have went with Saleen Wheels or Cobra Wheels on my car. Most would think that it looks cool. Problem I have with that is this .... EVERYONE HAS THEM!!!!! I dont want to be like everyone else!!!! I could throw a S/C on my car now and run mid 11's ... but again, I dont want to be like everyone else !!! I want my car to be an All Motor GT that runs 11's .... Not many people can do that ..... The paint on my car (eventually) will be in the sonic blue with some pearl flames across the hood, it will have a 3" cowl, Cobra Front Bumper, Saleen Side Skirts, and a Cobra rear bumper with the "COBRA" filled in ... Again, not something you see every day ....

I strive to be different!!!!!

Why should we not like or hate upon those that choose to be different ??? why not just appreciate the fact and accept the fact that someone wants to be different ???

It's nice you took the time to look at their cars. They do good work and "yes" most of their paint schemes are a little on the wild side. But those paint schemes have won them several trophies, and not just at small car shows around V-town, but at Fun Ford in Houston. The wild schemes aren't my style either, but I sure notice them coming down the street and still take a double take (and I have seen their cars several times) And no one was mad at anyone for stating their opinion

Thanks Rebel Storm for assuring me that no one is mad at anyone for stating their opinion. Although some people make you feel kind of like you have to keep defending yourself and your opinion. (Like you're wrong and so and so is right)

Brian, I have been to the track many times and have seen some pretty wild paint jobs. In my opinion they look great on track cars. In my opinion, some of them would look silly as a daily driver. To me, in my opinion, that's what makes those track cars stand out a little from a street car. If you had both sitting next to each other in a parking lot, you would assume that the wild paint job is the track car. But that is just my opinion on wild paint jobs and VLZ. Like I said, they do quality work. I just don't prefer most of their jobs I have seen thus far. I have seen 2 that are okay but for the most part, in my opinion, I don't like their color schemes. If a person likes it and wishes to drive them, more power to them. I am just stating that I would not drive most of their cars if it was determined upon the paint job.

whoa bulldog since i got my car i wanted to do the same but i want to do the cobra front bumper, saleen side skirts, s281 spoiler, and the saleen rear bumper. Almost close to the same but on different year models. Hope your car turns out badass. I think it will.

Now let me ask a question? How many people would drive my stang if it depended on the paint job that VLZ did? THis is just to get some opinions and i will not bash anybody. Personally i like the flames on my car and dont want to remove them.

and the ones on your car are soo defined, a more subtle set of flames would be preferable

i think that your car would look 10 times better without the flames, the body and stance of your car looks wonderful.... the car looks fine "ok" with the flames, but i believe it would look better without

I'm with Bulldog on this one. The paint job should never overtake the beauty of the car and its lines. That is why sleeper will be getting ghost flames vs. standard flame job. The ghost flames gives it a 3D effect up close when done in shades of the color of the car. Enjoy your car Josh, it looks great. People are always gonna offer opinions for and against things we do. What matters is that you are happy with what you have. I am very happy that you have a ride you like and can enjoy for years to come.
