I think it should be first to the line!! not best time... just like on the street but at the track... you sleep at the light, too bad. you jump too bad double elimination or just grudge matches all day... if you lose twice give up... dont get mad and want to rematch all night...

and dont run around town talking behind peoples backs. we can settle it all there. run what you brung. no crying over "he sprayed" or "he has better tires" or like me "my clutch is fubard" it will be new and i wont have a single excuse so you shouldnt either.... my car will be set up to run to its full potential.

thats what i am hoping for... hell 10-5 the track is ours... with 20-30 cars we will still run a crap load of times.... its worth it just to dial in. when i was going to the track 2-3 a month i spent way over a 100 and didnt get but maybee 25 runs total that month.. i think the car as it sits has had 70 track passes in the last 7 months

my car is tagged and insured also so what class would i run because some consider it a all out drag car because it has slicks open headers roll bar ect. but i have to have all that just to be legal to run there but i also drive it on the street,i want to run the street car class but i need to be able to run my car the way i run it at the track

I would for sure drive it if it had a working transmission. I know our hobby is expensive and sometimes I can't afford to play. I have other obligations just like everyone else does. I'm not blessed with a 50K/yr job but I make ends meet and spend money when I can on my ride. As soon as I get my TH400 built and put in and then get the suspension fixed (it is 23yrs old) I'll be down to race. I am not in it to prove that I am faster than any one else. I don't have a dedicated drag car. My car is a street car, not an all out drag car. I race when I can just to have fun. So you want to run my little old 300hp Olds 350 against your 800+ hp BB Chevy. Sounds kida one sided if you ask me. BTW, any one can build a BBC or SBC and go fast. There's tons of cheap aftermarket parts for them. Building a fast Oldsmobile V8 is much more difficult due to hardly no aftermarket support and parts being expensive as hell. I knew this when I first started this car and you know why I stay with it? Because it's different. How many hopped up Olds V8's do you see around? Hardly any. I'll race my car when and where I see fit. Not because some guy with a drag car who knows he's a shitload faster "calls me out". Why don't you call 1SS2NV out and race his "street car".

I agree with Phillip. We do this for fun, not to prove anything. My husband's self esteem is fine. He doesn't have to race a 800 hp dragcar against a 300 hp street car to feel good about himself. There is nothing wrong with having it a "a" hobby opposed to "the" hobby. We have other agendas in life, such as a family, home theater room, bigger house, etc. We don't dump every penny of our hard earned money into the one car. I am thankful to those members on here who are friends with us even though we may not have the same salaries dumped into our vehicles and allow us to dip into the race track scene for kicks.

Building a fast Oldsmobile V8 is much more difficult due to hardly no aftermarket support and parts being expensive as hell. I knew this when I first started this car and you know why I stay with it? I would for sure drive it if it had a working transmission. I know our hobby is expensive and sometimes I can't afford to play. I have other obligations just like everyone else does. Mine just does 200hp to the wheels but I'll run yall anyway. Its all for fun. Racing is an expensive habit. SOme can, some can, and others(most of us) can when we have the cash). I know Phillip has been working on his project for years and I got to see it when it was runnin strong. Worthy street beast in it's own right. We are all family on this site and should spend more time helping each other out and putting each other up instead of down. SOme people have experience at this because they have studied it and others have learned from the school of hard knocks in life. Both perspectives are very valuable when putting projects together. With the exception of Roys Black MONSTER, we all have rides that may be in or around the same neighborhood to go and play at the track and have a good time. SO LETS GO DO THIS THING IN A FEW WEEKS!!!!

Just to clear things up my car is a "bracket" car which means intentions are not to go fast but to have a good combo and be consistant and turn on some win lights.

the car prolley will run 10:30's- 40's the way it sits with some minor adjustments.

If i wanted i can put lexan in and take out all the glass buy some fiberglass doors, deck lid maybe even a whole front clip and ill have me a 9 second car. But thats not what i want. And heck put the bottle on it and ur talking a real interesting ride lol BUT none of that wins me races. And ill just be another car on the trailer going home early just to say yea it went 9's.

Things like that should normally be included in the price. I doubt they would allow others to utilize track property without employees being present to operate the equipment. I can see the medical being an extra expense to have EMS personel on standby.

He sure has helped quite a bit. Part of the deal was that if he was gonna drive he also had to get dirty. I wanted him to learn this game from all angles. He sure is handy to have around when doing a tranny mount with those evil top bolts on the 4l60E, lol. :thumbs: . The boy has earned his keep and the right to drive Sleeper anytime he wants. He loves that car as much as I do.

Cool... My first time dropping the tranny in mine this weekend :) SHould be fun... Gears the week after and manifold swap, some odds and ends, bunch of poly bushings, harrop, and retune before the final show... no secrets

jits i got some bolt guides... screw them in slide on the tranny and put each bolt one by one... should work like a charm.. also have a tranny jack... i am sure i will be doing this every so often lol so i got it down pretty good...

when i hid mine (when i had it) i mounted my solenoids under the lingenfelter and ran my fuel rail like down under my fuel rail covers and inline with the factory harness :) mounted my bottle in the spare tire well and the nozzle under the intake piping by the radiator about 6-7" from the tb... If you wanted to find it you would have to stick our arm in that little spot and risk getting burnt lol.... very stealth and painted the feed from the bottle black and ran it inline with the fuel lines under the car... needless to say to return it after i blew it it was a pain to get out.. all because i forgot to pull the schrader valve out before i tapped the fuel rail... thats what being in a rush will do and not testing your system... very stoopid mistake

part of it came loose and fell toward the fender and needs to be reattached?.?.?......Maybe.

Regarding those purple things.......thought I'd dress up the engine compartment with a little bit of color, preety drab under there so used purple connectors to attach to the MAF.

HMMMMMMM lets see......He wanted to get Jitsu excited........well my friend you did just that........was lookin to have to put in a set of twin turbos with a 300 shot to boot so I could get those dam tires to leave the gound and be on level playing field...............nah....just kidding..............do believe that the SS probly does have a few surprises under its sleeve......... yeah....thats what I believe. the spectator charge is cool but if i have to pay for all my family and friends to come help me then im out because we are getting away from the whole idea of what this started as and you have to pay upfront to rent the track and spectators will pay when they get there so you have to decide how that money will be distributed and to who .my thinking is that if its going to blow up and and your worried about it then stay at home i know knowbody wants to tear there car up lords i dont ,but im not going up there to do this to make a profit im going to have fun maybe cook a little barbecue and run my car a little bit .so charge outside people thats fine but people that come in with the cars should not be because this is a family thing and i dont think we should take that out of racing

spoke with elaine at SAR she said every saturday is a no go that it would have to be on a sunday as the track is having something every saturday the rest of the summer except the last week of may which the track is closed. I am going to speak with todd tomorrow about actual cost and everything included, but she told me its more than 1000 to rent it and they would have an employee doing prep, working lights, etc...

First ya'll want to rent the track so you can get lots of runs in, then you bitch because it might cost you 40bucks, now want to charge people to watch so you can profit from it.

Ya'll might as well cancel it and pay the $20 bucks to race on Friday or Saturday during normal track hours so you can only get 2 runs in, sounds like a better deal for the money.


4AGE thanks for getting in touch and finding out what it's going cost. Once that is done everyone that is going to race should put in $50-100 to cover the cost and also will guarantee that you are going to show up. Then if more people show up to cover the cost then you refund everyone the difference.

I believe that this event should be social and not financial in nature. If anybody wants to engage in side betting then that is their choice. It should be a family event and I don't believe spectators should be charged because they will either be family or close friends of the racers. The whole idea is for us to get together as a group, run the shit out of our cars and eat BBQ. Sunday seems like a good day becuse people usually don't have many obligations on this day with the exception of church. LEts not just talk about it, lets make it happen. Dean appears to have collected info that is usefull and appears to be following through with obtaining more. Lets see what we have when he gets all the info. I would be willing to take care of the sign ups and keep the money locked up in my office along with a payment sheet. LMK.

Yes, its coming, still have alot to do regarding tuning and all. Lost a good friend a few days ago to a meth freak which put a hamper on everything. God know all times and its simply a matter of when and how, Jay and I still have a promise to complete which will soon be forth coming, so right now its time to focus on our team and its soon to be accomplishments. Fuel & Nitrous Available = NO (must bring your own - the operators wont come out for the number of people we have)
Tech Inspections = Yes ( only because some of the calibers of cars going)
Medical = Always someone on site if anyone if going down the track.

From what I can remember, back in 1999, the guy who owned Mr. Gatti's had won the lottery.

A group of racers got together and discussed a track being built. One of the higher up people in Victoria supported this as well. He approached the lottery winner guy and told him about it. The lottery guy was sold on it and was starting to look at land and the cost of doing it. Then the lottery guys attorney talked him out of it.

Now the lottery guy is flat ass broke cause he didnt invest his money wisely.

I believe that Jason was a part of this group way back when. I know him and I discussed it a bunch back in 1997, 1998 & 1999. I also remember this taking place when I was a Police Officer in Victoria and I supported it as well.

But to make a long story short his attorneys did tell him it was not a wise investment because of some issues that may arise later that will cause him to be sued.

Like i said yea "WE" got close and just because that page has turned doesnt mean we cant add another chapter to the book.

It would be a great idea to start another organization to get things rolling again and you never know what will come along. Nothing may never come unless the area shows great interest in it as it once did.

But I think someone with the right money to do this could reap benefits of this area as its dying to get a facility that con be enjoyed by thousands from and around this area.

Also a track in victoria woulde be benifical to its economy.I mean if you look at youtube videos of aloe race track(the track that used to be here a long time ago)you can see how well it did back then.People from the surronding areas would all show up to the track,instead of traveling to houston or San antionio.Also wouldnt a track kinda help keep the street racing down?I mean if we had a track here ppl wouldnt have to illegally race they could just take a 5 min drive to the track.

Well to start an organization we need members that then select president, vise, treasurer and so on. Have montlhy meetings, annual car shows. Things of that sort.

I remember when we had max capacity at the KC and had poeple waiting outside to come in to show support for a local drag strip..... so what is that telling you. All this with a simple add in the paper can happen.

But if something is gonna happen it needs to be pushed!!

I and I know others are interested in helping out joining a organization.
