expired registration grace period

i just got a ticket for have my registration like an hour ago and it went out 09/09 6 days ago, and i asked him about the grace period he said there was not one for the registration just inspection. im was too tired to bitch but i just went to the txdot website and it said that " a vehicle may be operated up to five working days after the registration expires without penalty. after those five days, you can receive a ticket of up to $200. im been on unemployment sence i got laid off last year, and told him i was going to buy it in a few hours went to ATM to get money just got paid. he said he didnt care also, if anybody lives in pl where the ibc atm is buy dairy queen. i went through the parking lot and was thinking about eating at whataburger. didnt want to waste my money so was going home jumped back on 35. and the cop told me that it is illegal to drive though a parking lot. he said lots of people do it but he said its againist the law how true is that. that made no sence to me, im going to talk to judge right after i go to courthouse and ask him how true these things were and at the least the grace period was like 2 hours old i got pull over at 2:40 in the morning on the sixth day at any info would help me out a lot thanxx.

im not sure about the registration but my inspection sticker was out by like 2 months and i got a ticket for it and all i had to do was go get it inspected and show the court that i had just got it inspected and they just made me pay like 5 bucks or something like that. dont know if its the same as the registration though. you might ask them just to check.

here read the txdot website it saids u have 5 working days. last time i checked u cant buy registration on saturday and sunday. here is link

doesnt matter to them, they dont have to give you any grace period. its just a courtesy thing.

I feel so bad for you my friend. What just happened to you is a direct result of severe ignorance.Its too bad Poor Lavaca has to be this way. I grew up in that town and spent many nights ripping the piss out of the roads there with nothin more than warnings, back then the LEOs had backbone and went after real criminals. Your registration expires the 9th month of 09. With that said, I know you can legally drive your vehicle for five working days after expiration. Ihave gone in many times on the next month but before 5 business days and had no issues at all ever!! I keep 3-4 vehicle registered in calhoun county at any given time and do this most of the time. I know exactly where you drove through also and it is illegal but we do it all the time. You must have found a real prick at 230 am with nothing better to do.Good news is the Judges are far more proffessional than a rookie LEO. I know if you get your car registered before the month is over you shoul be OK. Good Luck.

well i went to get the sticker at courthouse and got charged an extra 10 bucks because i got a ticket i told them and they said they couldnt do anything about it that pissed me off well went to city hall and talked to some bitchy mexican bitch and she told me that there is no grace period and the txdot website is wrong and she is right but sence i got the sticker she said that i would pay 20 bucks for some shit didnt really care for one main reason they be a bitch or a asshole in this world they will get it in the next and i will be the asshole to them but thanx for the info

Man this is a shame. Tx DOT is not wrong, there were a few key words in your op that prettty much sum it up, hope the ticket issue goes better for you. Try a nice well punctuated letter to the editor of the Poor Lavaca Wipe and see where that gets you, it would supprise you to see what ignorant responses you will recieve. Better yet try it online, this will help defer some opinions from people that cant afford a computer
