car is odne and running.i got the head shaved 12 thousandths which raised the compression from 8.5 to 9.8 and i must say i can feel the difference. head is now completly ported and polished and shaved down. so my question is is does it need to be retuned based on these mods
port and polish
raised compression
full exhaust 3 inch piping
and do want to turn boost up to 14 psi

was watchin my air fuel and before this work it was down to 10.5:1 and now its up to like 11.8:1 how can i free up more air flow

You need more fuel not air flow. Your much leaner now than before. Don't know where these cars like to run but depending on your timing your AFR is a little lean for a boosted motor.

actually on a 4g63(well the evo ones) 11.8-12.0 is fine, idk if the older 4g's are diffrent.

Well that is not wat I just read about Afr. It sai the lower your number means your not getting enough air which could explain why my gauge says i'm running rich. I'm not saying your wrong just saying that I knowi read it correctly and it matches with my readings.
Thes cars are made to run rich from the factory. Been trying to get more air to it since I'm running rich and it's causing my car to fuel cut. Next mod needs to be a better exhaust manifold

14.7 is stoich. Anything less is a rich condition which means more fuel than air. Anything more than14.7 creates a lean condition

i know how to read afrs and most ppl tune cars to 11.5-12.0.If your thinking you can tunr the car to run 14.7 at WOT goodluck.

Yes but after you change the heads you leaned the car from 10.5 to 11.8 (12% change in fuel). You upped your compression alot and you are still running the same timing and boost. You going to end up detonating and end up taking out a piston or lifting the head blowing the head gasket again.

yea thats what i meant to say, your afr is fine but who knows what your IDC's are and what your timing is and if your making out on fuel.if i were you id try to get the car tuned asap, check out JMS in san antonio they specialize in dsm's

ok kurt i see how your saying it. we were lookin at in two different ways.

just make sure you get a good quality one and not an ebay one.The cheaper ones like to crack and are very thin.
