is it legal to have a light bar on top of your vehicle? if so are there certain colors and/or vehicle types(ie wrecker truck) that it has to be?

light bars are illegal on maximas! cause it will look plain stupid haha jk im sure as long as you dont use it in town you can have any color on your veichle

just to add on some insanity here...
how about stickers and maybe the word police on the side(or something similar)
i have seen a mustang made to look like a police car and the DA said it was legal to drive on the streets(not sure where this was)

A car that says POLICE on it is legal, in a sense. It has to have the words OUT OF SERVICE on it if a regular civilian is going to operate it.

The Mustang that you are talking about that looks like a Cop Car might be a friend of mines from San Antonio. He did a remake of the Decepticon Car Barricade from Transformers.

He is a Cop, so he can have all of the extra stuff on the car, including light bar, siren, etc ..

There is a fine line when it comes to the Offense of Impersonation of a Police Officer. In my opinion, a regular citizen is playing with fire when it comes to this. One officer may let you go, another will throw your ass in jail.

If you want a lightbar on your car for whatever reason, the only safe color for your is orange. red, blue, or white is OFF LIMITS.

i had one on my first car but it was removeable so i wouldnt have any problems. but i did have the whole police light setup. not the crap you buy at the parts store and stick in your lights. i never had any issues cuz i never used it on the street wink wink.

if i remember right in the motor handbook no red light can show from the front of your car anyway.

Sorry to change your question, but it's kinda the same in away..

Let's say you have a dually, ford, chevy, dodge whatever.. Can you change the lights on the top and side fenders and tailgate? I know it sounds like a noob question, but there is some duallys around town with this idea..

I was too lazy to make a thread about this..

Depends on what color you want to change them too. They can not be red or blue and be seen from ANY direction, unless the RED is facing REAR ONLY. And white can not be seen from the REAR.
