I turned off of rio grande onto navarro and this new body-style black tundra tried to race me. He did pretty good considering I was in second gear. I was not about to drop it to first on Navarro. My truck has the braking capacity of a Mack truck. If anybody knows him let me know. I'd like to show him what a real truck can do.....but somwhere alittle safer for me and everybody else than Navarro.
It was a black new body tundra with URD (underdog racing development in small letters) sticker on the back window.
also looking for a dark blue chevy truck (about a 2001 model) with white CHEVROLET across his tailgate
I don't mind racing anyone, even if I loose, but Navarro in the middle of the day is not the place to race.

Big Whitey is always game....... I've taken out my fair share of Tundra's. Chevy's, Dodge's and Ford's need not apply unless they're modded quite well or are a SCSB. Big Whitey lays waste to 300C Hemi's and 5.3L SS fwd cars on a regular basis. Not too bad for a lightly modded 5400lb bruiser of a truck.

Hell, my truck is slow compared to alot of cars........but stock 4x4 trucks should leave me alone.......my truck was faster than them when it came off the assembly line in 1970..........

I'm talking alot of mess and I better back down............but I've never taken it to the track, but I'm guessing low 14's with the 3.08 gears .........faster with the 3.73's I'm about to put in and traction (locker and wider tires are next)
I'm going to start driving like an old man, I'm getting a little scared of getting a racing ticket.... I'm going to TRY to stay clean on the streets
if anybody is going to the track and they don't mind I tag along I'd like to go, I'd rather not go by myself the first time.

I llike to race trucks even though I'm a lil slow.

Right now I'm REALLY low on cash........as soon as I get a job or sell my 4wheeler...... I've really got to pay off my new transmission first....

well I haven't seen the black tundra lately, but I did get a chance to try my luck against a certain white titan right before he sold it...........
I got traction from a dig and I won..........but if we had roll raced... IDK who would have won
I jumped ahead at the start and his truck kept up but it wouldn't pass mine
then I found out that he sold his truck because he thought his transmission was slipping.....so IDK his transmission might have already been screwed up when he raced me.

Hey, let's not forget the other 4 runs that Big Whitey won. If traction were ideal, then Big Whitey would have owned all the runs. I take what I can get and admit my defeats. 4 out of 6 runs in Big Whitey's favor sounds like an overall win IMO. I traded him in because the manual selector in the VB was acting up. Better to go to someone who isn't going to haul ass in it like I did. Better to haul stuff instead. Still shifts great though and sold all of my stuff to put it back to stock minus the exhaust. I now own a beautiful 2010 Sonata SE V6. Awesome little highway flyer. Smooth ride and great power for a grocery getter. Handles nice too.

I wasn't trying to discredit your truck....
the first two rolls I had the MPG spring in my Vac secondary 600cfm carburetor.... according to holley with that spring the rear barrels don't start to open until 4000rpm and I shift at 5000....but I think you still would have had me on the rolls
the first time on that certain cement 4-lane I was expecting traction problems and I shifted out of 1st gear at 3000rpm and I never caught you
the next two times all of my shifts were perfect @ 5000rpm and I took you off the line and held you off at about the same distance that I had gained in my initial advantage (you weren't really gaining or falling behind)
later (when we were almost back at your house) we were on blacktop and I spun badly and i had my truck in Drive (unless I hold it out the auto will shift for me at 4000rpm WOT).....plus I was not going to try to loose both belts again
SO...............
let me be more clear......
I think that on a dragstrip my truck would consistently run slightly quicker than yours.
BUT....
if I revved up to you on the street I think your truck would win any day
that's what I was trying to say in my original post....I just got kinda caught up in my own glory
EDIT: I totally agree with you on this statement "If traction were ideal, then Big Whitey would have owned all the runs."
Well you cant go with "if this or that would of happened I would have won" I used to get that all the time and just laugh.. Well if I would have 100 more hp I would have owned you.. But the point everyone misses is you DIDNT and you LOST.. ALL that matters is right now! Not tomorrow or what coulda shoulda been..
When you race traction is your problem.. Make sure you spend the money on suspension and tires if your gonna run so you dont have to cry about it. I should have carried tissues when I had the GTO.. I sware the thing wasnt even fast and still got every story in the book of why they lost.. or why this and why that.. I hooked and booked is all I know..

I never discredited my losses. Read again buckaroo. Mod for mod Big Whitey was a much faster truck. But, it's not even apples to apples with the two. @ the track, I know for a fact I would have won each race because traction was never an issue there. Playing on regular street surfaces are always a gamble, hence why I won 4 and he won 2. He also has a built 383 with lots of mods to my 340 cube engine as well as my truck only having intake/exhaust/programmer/shift kit. But as has been stated before for years, run whatcha brung. We did and the outcomes were stated already. What I do know is his truck would stomp a mudhole in my new ride.....lol. But I didn't get it to haul ass either. I wanted another highway flyer.

I have about 10K in my motor and transmission (half of that was mistakes though, if I built it over again it would cost me only about 6K), but I only have about 2-3K in the rest of the truck.......so if you had to buy a new titan and mod it it would still cost more.
I have 6.3 liters of engine that was designed in 1955 without computer modeling. the heads are only about a 15 year old design but they still had to work with 55 year old valvtrain and port layouts. the small block chevrolet was a good engine but nowadays it's behind the times a little bit.
it really doesn't matter who won to me that much, it was just a whole lot more fun racing against someone who could fight back than some little stock truck's who's owner swears their truck is fast and you race them and they are not even close.
I'd challenge Big Whitey at the track, but I can't afford to go and big whitey is gone.

Yeah it was good times for sure. I had fun dude. Your truck moves out and if you wanna sell that 383, lemme know because I have a Cutlass that's in dire need of an engine......lol.

I've thought about selling it before but I'd have to sell it with the 700r4.....and I have more money in both of them than their actually worth so I'll probably keep 'em....
with the money you'd spend on a 383 you could build you one hell of a 5.3 with a turbo and water/meth injection.... the main reason I chose a 383 over a 5.3 is because I liked the old school looks ......cost to power ratio they are about the same or slightly in favor of LS motors.
or check out a 6.0 block with L92 (basically LS3) heads.... those things flow like the wind.
L92 heads are pretty nice. My G8 likes them... ;-)
