Just wondering if vtown has any quick trucks out there. Ive seen 2-3 at meets but some nights as im cruising threw town i see a few lowerd 99-06 gm rcsbs but never seen them at meets also remember seeing a few lightnings back in the day that i dont see anymore. If theres some out there it would be nice to see them at the meets

This is the set-up I'm planning on getting to with my truck. I'm hopefully purchasing those rims and tires here in the next week or two.

Already have the CAI, have the 4 inch straight pipe, but moving up to a 5 inch turbo back to a single 7" mitre cut stack, ordering my new injectors tomorrow with some 75 hp nozzles, doing some stuff to the rearend(not sure yet on that one), and then eventually a built trans and maybe a twin turbo set-up and more.

do you know how much it will cost to build an allison trans? lol
and as far as the rearend goes, just put strange shafts in it with a real posi.

I almost went fiberglass on my hood but ive got bad luck with birds an deer. Just couldnt see paying the extra 200 for fiberglass though i do see this site has them for 359 so prolly alomost 400 shipped maybe more. My steel hood cost 300 an like 200 to paint.

eric, your 11.5" 14 bolt doesnt really need any upgrades unless you're pulling a sled. so just rebuild it and leave it alone. i forgot you dont have a 10.5 like i do.
all duramaxes have an 11.5 which is a stout mother effer
6.0s have the 10.5 which is still pretty damn strong. not sure about the 8.1L
the vortec max/06 SS has a 9.5"
the rest of the half tons have a cheese dick 8.5" 10 bolt.
and of course you have the F body/S10 7.625 which litter the earth.
but if you really want to beef it up, get in touch with someone at strange.

I'm just gonna throw some 4.11 gears in it and i'll be done with it. did a little research on it this morning. Also gonna throw a lift pump on the truck as well!

look in your glove box on the codes list and look in the G section. If one is GT4 then you have 3.73. If it says GT5 then it is 4.10

Shoot me a price on the air dog 2 150 pump. I'm most likely going to get it soon. I've read it's supposed to help with injectors last longer.
Ill have to check that code, I'm pretty sure it has 3.73's though

yup it's the GT4 so I have the 3.73's. And plus my rear end is whining like none other so that's the main reason why I'm going to change it out. I've already ordered my injectors and my tow mirrors today and I'm going to hopefully order my efi live and the edge CTS monitor in the next few days as well. As soon as I can meet up with Patrick and get him to make a copy of my stock tune.

wtf. didnt think any of the 5speed allisons came with 3.73s. ohwell. dont forget to change the front diff too.

forgot to mention unless youre pulling a lot, i would keep the 3.73s. with an engine that torquey and with a redline at 3k you want all the gear you can get. it wont be any quicker with lower gears either if thats what youre thinking.

I've read quite a bit about changing the gears and have found that there are some benefits to throwing some lower gears in it. It will apparently bring the rpms back to closer to the stock rpm range and prolong engine life. Also heard that there is a noticeable difference in the low end.
But after looking at how much it'll cost to change both front and rear I'm going to stick with my 3.73 gearing. lol

Take it from experience, do all your power mods first and then judge your gearing. As soon as you get close to the 500 hp level you will appreciate those hwy gears. It helps bring your economy back and the added power will carry the truck a whole lot better.

i dont see how LOWERING your gears will prolong a diesels engine life turning more RPMs.

It doesn't make sense to me either but this guy was going on some long rant about it. who cares. lol
Yea I'm just gonna stick with the 3.73's until they go out on me.
