Just ordered my engine and I'll be receiving it Monday. I'm going with the LSX 454 from GMPP. Planning on leaving it stock for the first 50,xxx miles for warranty purposes and then changing it all up. Can't wait to get this bitch on the road again and to see what Patrick can do with the 454.
I'll post pics when we get it installed.

As I've come to realize in the past year you've gotta pay to play with the big dogs. I've already got my slush fund started for the built tranny and rear...

the 6L80 should hold up nicely for a little while. the rearend is pretty strong too, but good luck hooking with stock suspension.

05-21-2011, 05:32 PM
When its all assembled, the LSX 454 weighs 568 pounds--thats 128 pounds more than the LS7. That weight gets you an engine tested to GM production-car standards that puts out 620 hp and 590 lb-ft. Redline is a very conservative 6,500 rpm.:wtg:

dang you are sounding a little bipolar like this:
“I’m not bi-polar, I’m bi-winning. I win here and I win there.”
“The only thing I’m addicted to right now is winning.”
“I probably took more than anybody could survive. I was banging seven-gram rocks. Because that’s how I roll. I have one speed. I have one gear: Go.”
“I am on a drug – it’s called Charlie Sheen. It’s not available because if you try it, you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body.”

Uh.....have no idea what you were trying to say/imply, but I'll give it a try.
Am I a little jealous, just a smidge. Am I happy for him, you betcha. The fact remains that 454 cubes of LSx engine will destroy pretty much any OE driveline with the exception of maybe a 2500 truck. The 6L80 is not that strong, fairly stout yes, but it can be broken. My goals for my heap are a lot simpler/cheaper. If I had the coin to do up a car like his, I would have done the driveline upgrades first, because I don't like getting stranded from broken parts. But then again, that's just me. Eric does it his way and as long as he's happy w/the results, that's all that matters. I congratulate his effort as it will truly be a one of a kind sedan when it's done.

Dont worry too much about the mile dude, If all came to shit and you didnt register I could call Jay or Shannon and have them throw you on the line up like I did with Amar last year on the second day of the event. Seems strict as hell to the untrained eye on the internet, but in person when conversing with the VP and director of NASA wich I can do at anytime given the spots they have put me in, It just takes a favor to one of the tech guys and a good word with a girl working the roster Gina!

Garrett Smith
06-06-2011, 09:48 PM
Im not really sure what your question is honestly, About what your asking, If you enter the event period, You can do testing and never make a wot/full pass.
You can rent the track, but it would be tri sub-contracting via NASA, through Goliad's facility grounds and county strip, You would be paying ungodly amounts for it. As in you could have bought another car.
1C62NV
06-06-2011, 10:49 PM
My mistake, the way I read what you posted it sounded as if you may have connections opposite of the track events. I was thinking there would have been a chance to do some testing at times without all the overhead. I know what the event consists of since I have run there myself, I just would like a chance to try some things before race day on a closed coarse.

Ha, hell man, Its fucking Goliad, Go out to the airstrip, their is no gate! ppl go out there alot man, run down the mile, just keep in mind, that strip aint been swept or prepped, meaning, u going 180+ and hitting a large peice of cement at the end of the runway, is...no good, we eyeball that shit for hours and sweep it clean before the cars get to the paddocks, I drove my supra down it and its pretty scary dodging shit that seems to be large or sharp or metal, then you find out its only a damn tumbleweed or patch of tall grass, etc.. I did it before we started tho so it wasnt prepped, then afterwards when i drove down it, i was working, so i couldnt do shit, like nothing over 80 while going up and down track, cuz it appeared to some crew workers, HEY THERES A CAR ON THE TRACK WTF, and im actually like driving down to timing gear, just looks like it to the idiots.
By all means, go out there and fuck around, no..its not legal, but goliads police officers are some pretty understanding and leniant guys, daniel will probably just say, yeah go ahead, but dont be driving in the grass or anything and no burnouts.
1C62NV
06-06-2011, 11:05 PM

ha no, navy does touchdowns there, but as far as like.. using hanger and stationing there, no. ebaker
07-05-2011, 04:28 PM
It's the midnight blue(not sure what the actual color is) with paper plates. I'm not sure what year it is though. It's a clean looking car no doubt.
Thanks for the compliments cruisinlow67! I love the sound of it! I had so many crazy and amazed looks this weekend while I was out. Kinda justified spending about 16 grand on the engine swap....lol

Grocery getter FTW. Good kill to add to the list, did y'all dig it or roll it out?
ebaker
07-05-2011, 07:12 PM
dig twice and roll from 30 once. He got me on the first dig and I got him on the other two. You do any roll racing anymore? After seeing you're car launch I know I have no luck at keeping up with you from a dig. lol

Roll racing , what mph do yall start and shut it down at ? Trying to see if I can do that ..
ebaker
07-05-2011, 07:47 PM
we ran 30-120. It's nice because I only have a small amount of wheel spin, but I still believe that dig racing is the only way to go. I just don't do it well with the stock rear and street tires. lol

Probably not. Some may start out at like 40, 50, 60. And then you have those CRAZY ass people that do it from 100+ lol

get you some damn nitto dr's man! or even the mickey thompson dr's. I loved those on my car. Are you as scared to hook with your IRS as I am with your power level?
Tokyo Shift
07-08-2011, 09:36 PM
Maybe at the track which I don't see myself going balls out anyways, the street I'm not too terribly worried. I just don't think it will hook that well. Maybe I'm wrong, on my old setup 480/420 the Mickeys held great. Currently making almost 100rwhp more than that and a little more torque too.

Yea, we had some good runs (at the Moscow unlimited, so completely legal....). But everyone knows when you go up to the speed we do (170 twice, 180 and 195) stock bikes kind of "peter out". I was curious to the outcome as well, knowing that the rider on a bike makes a huge difference. Now that modded liter bike that came down from Houston, my car ran like a freak that night

So true. Angel was texting me from the lot last night saying that John said once again (he told Davitt this a few weeks ago, and no telling who else) that his car whooped mine OFF the bottle. If that's the case I got a 'Busa and a modded liter bike for him to run, sans bottle of course.
