View Full Version : Bulldog's Tech Day
Bulldog Stang

Just wondering who I am gonna have to help with installing a few parts on the Bulldog. Here is a list of parts that will be installed:
BBK Long Tube Headers
BBK LT Mid Pipe
King Cobra HD Clutch
Stainless Steel Billet Flywheel
Aluminum Drive Shaft
Clutch Quadrant & Firewall Adjuster
If you have any expertise in one of the above areas, please let me know if you can help me out. I pretty much got the Flywheel, Clutch, Mid Pipe & Driveshaft covered. Or if you just wanna come out and hang with the other VM Members that are gonna be there, then come on out.

Several People (Tech Guys) that I talked to told me that I did not need to go to an aluminum flywheel due to me not cranking out 600 HP... they all told me to go with the Steel Flywheel.... They all said the the RPM's drop real quick with an aluminum flywheel.. is that what I want on a N/A setup ????? And later a S/C Setup ????

On the aluminum flywheel deal.....my car with a stock 100k mile engine making 225hp with exhaust and gears ran 12.9s! I promise......without the flywheel it ran 13.8s. I never had any problem with rpm's dropping between shifts quickly...I just sold my flywheel and clutch setup to a guy that has a s/c on his car and it knocked off .4 tenths in his ET and he never expected this. My brother used to run FFW in the street warrior class and all those guys are running them (if they still run standard trannys since they now allow auto's) Pretty much how it works is that it wouldnt hit as hard off the light, but it multiplys the rate of acceleration. Basically your rpm's come up quick! Im not tryin to force u into any direction, u can do what u would like, but i can help u go fast if thats what u want.

www.afs.com (http://www.afs.com) or www.afswheels.com (http://www.afswheels.com), can't remember which one is the site, but good one to go to if they want new wheels. Also check around the mustang forums like www.svtperformance.com (http://www.svtperformance.com) or www.thecorral.net (http://www.thecorral.net), or www.stangnet.com (http://www.stangnet.com). Of course there is ebay, but for wheels, that is probobly a last resort. But afs makes knockoffs that are almost identical other than brand stamp, part#, etc. and they are priced almost half as much as real ford oem.

UPDATE:
Just ordered the 6-Bolt Flywheel and the guy (Gregory) at gripforce-clutches (ebay id) was very helpful...
they are 2-Day Shipping me the new flywheel for a few extra $$$ ($34.00 to be exact) for a total price of $330... not bad for an Aluminum Fidanza Flywheel.....
They are gonna refund me $285.00 of my original $305.00 purchase..so I am still walking away cheaper than anyone else on the net for Fidanza Flywheels.....
If you are in the market for an Aluminum Flywheel.... I highly recommend this company... they got the products and Great Customer Service.....

Everything sounds awesome!!!!!! The headers were not as easy as everyone made them out to be....... Total Time for Headers was somewhere around 10 12 hours, not including the times we had to move em and unbolt em, etc... to get shit to fit.....
I do have a little rattle when the clutch is not engaged at idle.. anyone know what this might be ??? The clutch engages fine, and the pick-up is tremendous as opposed to before.... I must say, I am happy overall, except for the little rattle.... dont know what that is yet.....

*****UPDATE*****
We worked on the Bulldog AGAIN Tonight (Monday)..... It was making a horrible noise from the Tranny.... I diagnosed it as the throwout bearing and tried to work on it Sunday, but didnt have the help nor tools..... So, I called Ford Racing, Mac Haik, and Steeda and talked to Tech.. They all agreed that it was probabloy something to do with the Throwout bearing or the Firewall adjuster not being adjusted properly or the Clutch quadrant not being on the right hook.....
So I went ahead and picked up a NEW Throwout bearing from Mac Haik (THANKS JEFF!!!!!!!) for around $34.00 (with our Discount)... got to 98Aggie's shop and started tearing into the F*&*%@% Tranny again.... It went alot smoother than the last time, due to us figuring out how to get the tranny in and grinding shit off the bell housing....
We get the tranny on the floor and its obvious that the throwout bearing was F&*%$#@ UP. It looked like someone threw it through a meat grinder and stuck it on my tranny shaft... LOL.... Well, we figured out why it did that..... I and I alone did not pay attention to how it came off the first time... What I did was put the throwout bearing under the two arched metal retainers.. the proper fitment (after figuring it out.. THANKS LEEDOG) was that you have to push on the springs and fit the Throwout bearing OVER them, not under em.....
So we get everything back in and installed and ran into another problem... The #1 Top Header bolt decides to STRIP the head.... so after me receiving a phone call that one of my neices is fixing to be Life Flighted to San Antonio and the header bolt pulling that shit.. i was ready to go ape shit!!!!!!!!!! Well, thanks to Leedog & 98 Aggie, they came up with some good ol' fashioned Southern Engineering (98 Aggie is an Engineer) they found a replacement bolt that was longer and re-tapped the Head...
(Glad to see that Aggie got to put his degree to use)HAHAHA
So after more sore hands and cuts and a busted lip (dont ask) everything went back in and the Bulldog got fired up..... Boy did she f*&^&%$ GROWL!!!!!!!
On the way home, she drove smooth like good Kentucky Whiskey.. No Vibrations, No Noises, and best of all, No Leaks or clutch slippage.....
YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW.... If anyone else wants to do Long Tube Headers on their Mustang, remind me to SHOOT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get some damn SHORTIE's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Special thanks to 98 Aggie, Leedog and Yellowstang AKA WHINEY BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::t humbs::thumbs::thumbs:
